How the work runs
The job starts with a free estimate and a fixed scope. Same-location fixture swaps need no building permit. New bathrooms, moved drains, or structural changes are filed with the City of Toronto and inspected under the Ontario Building Code. Electrical work goes through the ESA. On site, the sequence is strict: demolition, plumbing and electrical rough-in, inspection, waterproofing, cement board, tile, then fixtures and glass. Waterproofing is the step we refuse to rush — a failed shower system is the most expensive mistake in residential construction, and we see the results of bad ones in our restoration work every month.
In older housing stock we plan for what is behind the wall: rotted subfloor around tubs, mould on studs, galvanized supply lines that should not be reconnected. Our estimates carry stated allowances for this, so surprises are priced before demolition, not after.

The drivers are plumbing relocation, shower construction (a tiled curbless shower costs several times a drop-in tub surround), tile scope, and fixture grade. 02Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation in Toronto?
Replacing fixtures in the same location needs no building permit. You do need a City of Toronto permit when you add a new bathroom, move drains, or alter structure. Electrical work must be filed with the ESA: heated floors, new circuits, pot lights. YAREX manages permits and inspections when the scope requires them.
03How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Three to five weeks for a full gut of a standard bathroom. Week one is demolition and rough-in, week two is inspection, waterproofing and board, weeks three to four are tile and finishing. Custom glass shower enclosures are measured after tile and take one to two weeks to fabricate, which usually sets the completion date.
